MPAC as a Classroom for the ANC Secondary Schools
The Mitchell Performing Arts Center provides a space where students learn how to create meaningful pieces of art, whether it be a play, dance concert, art exhibit, choral recital, or lecture. Mimi Mitchell, longtime supporter of the performing arts and drama teacher at Academy of the New Church, was one of the major benefactors of the renovation to the Assembly Hall, which is now MPAC. Mimi also contributed her substantial enthusiasm and theatrical experience to the project.
This theater has become an integral facility to student learning. Not only do students learn fascinating skills such as theatrical lighting, set design, or acting technique, they also learn how to work together as a team to create something artistic and meaningful for their community. By working with one another to craft a thought-provoking performance for audiences, these students learn the valuable skills of hard work and artistic expression.
