Anne of Green Gables is Lucy Maud Montgomery's 1908 story of an unloved and unwanted orphan girl who, by means of a fortunate mistake, finds a loving home with an old bachelor farmer and his sister. The title character, Anne Shirley, is one of the most engaging and endearing characters in literature. The strength of Montgomery's book lies in her entertaining dialogue and her believable and charming characters. The Bryn Athyn Community Theater production of Anne of Green Gables presents a fresh adaptation of this book that draws on these strengths by incorporating as much of Montgomery's dialogue as possible. Fans of the book will appreciate hearing Anne's familiar words brought to the stage, and newcomers to the story can look forward to discovering this wonderful character for the first time.
